The London Borough of Redbridge has published its Local Development Plan (LDP) for the period from 2015 to 2030. The plan is out for consultation and residents who wish to comment or object have until the end of September 2016 to do so.
The Pre-Submission Draft of the LDP may be viewed on the Council’s website here.
One aspect of the LDP that is of interest to Aldborough Hatch concerns the green belt land of Willow Farm which is to be developed for housing. Page 29 of the LDP states: ‘Land at Billet Road will be developed to provide around 1,100 high quality new homes’. These will cover the open land between Billet Road and the A12.
You will appreciate that this number of dwellings will not only have an impact on local services and the openness of the area in which we live, but also on local roads – including Billet Road. The Council commissioned a traffic survey from Atkin Transportation which forms part of the supporting documentation. From this you will note that the survey concluded that the housing development ‘is likely to have a Moderate to Major impact on Billet Road, a Moderate Impact upon Hainault Road, and a Minor to Moderate Impact on the B177 Barley Lane.’ It goes on to say that 'without mitigation, some potential loss of amenity and increased severance for residents may be anticipated based upon the volume of traffic flow increases’. From your knowledge of traffic in the area – espcially at peak times, you may have a view about this which you may wish to express to the Council, and we would ask you please do so!
The AHDA will be submitting objections to all aspects of the LDP that affect the green belt in the Borough, notably Oakfield Sports Ground in Barkingside, Fords Sports Ground in Seven Kings, King George and Goodmayes Hospitals and, of course, Willow Farm in Billet Road.
We would urge you to either complete the response form on the Council’s website or send your comments or objections to Local Development Plan, Planning, London Borough of Redbridge, Town Hall, 128-142 High Road, ILFORD IG1 1DD by 31st September 2016 at the latest.
Please copy us in on any response you send to the Council – our dedicated email address for this is LDP@theAHDA.org.uk
